About Barry
Barry Bandara has been married to his wife, Candy, since 1985 and is a proud father of three girls: Ashley, Holly, and Kailey. He grew up in San Jose, CA in a loud and large family. He enjoys his family, sunshine, 49er football, get-aways with Candy, and teasing his girls.
In July 2013, Ashley married Nathan Fox who is from North Carolina. Ashley and Nate are living in Lynchburg, Virginia and serving in Youth Ministry together at a local church. They have two precious boys. In June 2018, Holly married Luke Gregory. They are currently living in the Denver, CO area. They have a rambunctious little girl and a baby boy due in July, 2022. Kailey is finishing her Masters at Liberty University in Sports Management.
After graduating from Liberty University, Barry spent 20 years as a Youth Pastor in Washington and California. His last youth ministry stop was at the First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, CA where he was the High School Pastor to 750 students. He enjoyed the passion and energy of student ministry that involved camps, ministry teams, foreign mission trips, summer video productions (that are now blackmail material), and so much more.
Since 2005, he has been serving as the Lead Pastor at GracePoint Church across the Puget Sound from Seattle. His primary responsibilities are teaching and leading this ministry. His ministry vision is to build a vibrant church that has a passion to reach the unchurched with a Mission to help people meet, know, and follow Jesus.
In 2011, Barry wrote his first book called Dream House: Blueprints to a Healthy and Happy Home. His second book called, Secret Baggage: From Bondage to Freedom was published in July, 2021.
